Created by Dr. Jeffrey Low, "The Marriage Path" is a part of the Institute for Spirituality in Marriage. The institute exists to bring people tools they can use to create marriages that not only last a lifetime, but produce joy, intimacy, communication, partnership, and great personal and spiritual growth for both people throughout that time. The institute does not advocate marriage, but rather seeks to give those who choose marriage as a path the knowledge to be successful. We define marriage as "A lifetime monogamous partnership between two absolute equals". Marriage presents a unique and powerful path to those who seek personal and spiritual growth. However, we must shift from the traditional view of marriage as a male dominated survival tool, to a spiritual path traveled in partnership. Traditionally spiritual paths have been seen as individual journeys, but marriage presents an opportunity to go beyond what one can experience alone, and to discover the power of true partnership. The institute does not advocate any particular religion. We believe that spirituality lies within every person, and at the heart of all religions. We endorse the right of any two people to marry, and that any couple willing to seriously take on the difficult journey of marriage deserves the support of the whole community.
